This seminar will reflect on the practical ways in which historical insights into the Black Majority Church and its communities can inform self-understanding and reflections on our faith, contemporary life and associated debates.

The seminar will take place between 1.30 - 4.30pm on Saturday 10th November 2012 at the New Testament Church of God, Lichfield Road, Bow, London, E3 5AT. Directions can be found at: www.ntcg.org.uk/church/MileEnd.stm

Speakers will include:

* Rev. Phyllis Thompson and Professor John Wolffe - Welcome and introduction.
* Dr Robert Beckford - Has colonial Christianity bewitched the black church? What history can tell us about contemporary black churches.
* Rev. Israel Oluwole Olofinjana - The diversity of Black Christianity in London.
* Dr John Maiden and Dr Andrew Rogers - Black Christianity and sacred space in London: historical and contemporary perspectives.

A buffet lunch and refreshments will be served.
